My Monday

7 Feb

I spent time in the yard pulling weeds. Now I’m thinking that wasn’t the best idea because I feel even more sick! Oh well, the yard looks nice now! :)
I think I’ll go lay down now.
By the way, it’s a gorgeous cloud-free  74 outside…don’t hate me!

Ten Months!

25 Jan

My newborn is ten months old today!
Yesterday afternoon, while at my aunt’s house visiting my grandma, Neely took her first steps! She seemed to want something so bad she forgot that she couldn’t walk, took a step then remembered that she’s too young to walk and sat down! It was pretty cute.
I still haven’t gotten it on video, though I’m trying! I will be video stalking her until I get it!
She has changed SO much this past month.
She crawls at the speed of light; I blink and she’s in the kitchen trying to eat the dog food!
She discovered her voice more and she now screams with excitement or laughter or joy. It’s so cute and funny!
She gives kisses without being asked for one. Every morning that she wakes up too early I bring her into our bed to try and get her to sleep longer. It usually doesn’t work but we do get showered in sweet open-mouthed kisses every morning.
She has her own mind, she knows what she wants and when she wants it and she will do whatever she can to get it. She knows what toys she wants and she knows when she wants to pet the dogs, she knows when it’s time to hug mommy and when she’s tired.
She has also started dancing this past month. Any time she hears music she’ll start shaking her booty and bending her knees. There is nothing cuter in the world than Neely dancing.

Am I right?
I am constantly amazed and overjoyed by my daughter.
She is the happiest and most loving baby.
There is rarely a time that she doesn’t have a smile on her face (except when she’s tired or teething).
She has also discovered her new favorite face.

So cute and silly!
Another new thing is climbing on the couch. She taught herself to climb on the couch last week and now every time she makes it up she screams with happiness! That is what she’s doing while I’m typing this. She’s climbing on the couch, throwing her current items (a spoon and dog collar) on the floor, climbing down, getting them and climbing back up (repeat).
Neely loves the beach and the sand! We’ve been lucky enough to have beach weather the past few weeks so I have been taking advantage of that!

She is so much fun. I love every moment I am given with her.
I am so thankful for her. In ten short months she has turned my world upside down and made my heart grow 10 times bigger than it’s original size.

Happy 10 months of blissful life, baby girl.
You are my heart.
Happy 10 months of the best life we’ve ever known, Brett.
You are an amazing father to Neely. She gasps with excitement every time you come home and open the door at night. You rock her to sleep each night and wake up to her kisses and face slaps each morning. You always have a smile on your face. You are the best daddy Neely could ever dream up. I am so thankful for you in her life. She will never ever question what God’s love is like because you are the perfect example of how a father loves his daughter.
You make my heart sing.

This and That

4 Jan

I am now a blonde.

I am a tired girl.
2011 so far has been good…as one of my million resolutions I said I was going to hang out with other moms more and so far I have twice! (well one was on New Year’s Eve day but still)
I am already setting plans in motion for Neely’s 1st birthday party…it’s SO CLOSE! I hope I can make it exactly the way I want!
Neely is still cute:

Brett and I are still over the moon for each other:

I still live in the most amazing city:

(I made that tiny in case someone wants to steal it)
I still haven’t painted a thing.
I still am trying to keep my house clean.
Brett and I have been eating only fruits, veggies, nuts and whole grains for the past 3 days.
It’s expensive and I don’t like cooking 3 times a day so we’ll see how long it lasts.
If I lose weight then I’ll do it for a while…but it made me realize how easy eating healthfully really is. People act like it’s impossible but it’s really simple. Don’t eat anything from a box. Don’t eat dairy, don’t drink anything but water (and coffee).
There are a million recipes that make it easy, you just have to plan EVERY SINGLE MEAL. And that is where I have had a problem. We plan a day and then tomorrow comes and we’re like “Oh yeah. We have to eat again. Crap.”
This song has been in my head ALL day. This version and everything. I love this song SO much:

That’s all for now. I’m going to try to put Neely down for the night. She suddenly has been waking SEVERAL times per night and wakes up and criiiiiiiiiiiiiiiies her face off at 4:30am. I have eye bags. Grrrr.

Running Out

10 Aug

I feel like I’m running out of time in my day to do all of the things I want to do.
So instead of blogging I’ve been hanging out with her.
I take a lot of photographs, it’s true, but isn’t it worth it? I know how precious each moment is and I would rather have proof that it existed instead of relying on my poor memory.
Neely is the sunshine of my life.
It’s true.
I say it often but I can’t help it, I love being at home with her. I can experience every new thing with her.
The other day she realized that she can suck her lower lip. So it is always in her mouth now! (see 4th picture down)
Today, she was in the Baby Björn as I was watering the yard and she discovered that she can put her hand in front of the hose! At first it was one tiny finger, then her whole hand! We both got pretty wet but she loved it. And that’s all that matters.
I love that she’s almost 20 weeks, she just seems older. We are growing closer (if possible) daily and it’s amazing.
She loves her mama.
And her mama is head over heals for her.

I’ve also been running.
Ok, that’s a lie.
We didn’t run for an entire week but last night we ran 2.15 miles in 25 minutes.
And we’re aiming for 5 days a week. Hopefully I will get my body back by my 30th birthday!

I’ve also been sewing.
My sewing class started today and you can follow my progress by clicking on my button on the right!

So, as you can see, I haven’t much time for blogging.
But I read blogs every day.
And I wish I had something more significant to say here, but I don’t.

I love my life and my family.

Santa Monica!

26 Jul

Originally Brett and I had planned on going up to Monterey for the weekend but seeing as how we’re a one income family with 3 people and 2 dogs, that wasn’t possible.
Instead, we drove up to Santa Monica for the day! I love Santa Monica! And, as an added bonus, my brother and sister-in-law and kids met us there! It was SO fun! I have the best family ever.
Here is our trip, in photos. I got the new iPhone on our anniversary (!!!!!) so these are ALL from my phone! Yay for apps!

Neely’s First Beach Trip (in photos)

13 Jul

It was a gorgeous day for the beach!

First Mama held Neely as her toes touched the ocean.

Then Daddy had his turn with Neely!

She didn't mind it at all!

Even the dogs had a good time!

We stopped splashing to pose for a family photo!

The beach can get very tiring!

A sign of a great day!

It was the perfect day at the beach.

p.s. a big THANK YOU to my cousin Ali for letting me borrow her awesome swimming suit so that I don’t look like a big fatty!

Happy Birthday!

6 Jul

Today Brett turned 29!!

He had a massive breakfast awaiting him when he woke up and we’re going to relax and hang out all day! He’s surfing right now and later tonight we’ll have friends over.
Birthdays on a budget aren’t super fancy and lavish (at all), but having an amazing marriage, family and life makes up for all the things I couldn’t buy him (at least that’s what he says!).
And I know love, above all, is the most important thing to him and he has that coming out of his ears! There is no man loved and adored more than my husband Brett.
