21 Weeks!

19 Aug

She’s going to crawl soon!
It’s exciting/terrifying; our house is 100% not ready for a mobile baby!
For anyone who has tile or hardwood, how do you handle crawling? Don’t their knees hurt?

Really? Of course they don’t hurt. If it hurts, they won’t do it. Keep in mind, my little Booms McCoy – over the centuries, many babies have learned to crawl on harder things than tile.
What you need to be most concerned about are the tiny little things they put in their mouths. Everything from a dog food bit to a dust bunny will go into her mouth.
Get ready by crawling around your house (really!) and look at all of life from her perspective, remembering that EVERYTHING is a potential chew toy.

Babylegs! They protect their little knees. They are always having sales on their website. Also Target sells similar ones. They are practical and cute!

We used the knee socks, but then gave up. She will be fine.

There is that sweet contagious smile!! We have hardwood and we let Ethan just take off..he was alright. :) I am sure she will be ok.

We have hardwood too. I am planning on using babylegs. We also have a small area with those spongy-type interlocking mats, where Susannah plays/has tummy time… so she can start there!

My parents always put me in knee socks. In all the videos of me as a child that’s what I’m wearing. :)

Another vote for Babylegs! And another vote for crawling around at her level and seeing all of the things that could potentially go in her mouth.

And wow, is she looking like a big girl suddenly! Super cute big girl of course! :)

i swear her eyes get bigger and bluer every week! I can’t believe she’s almost crawling! It’s all happening so fast! Noweo just rolled over a week ago, exactly on her 4 month birthday, so i don’t think she’ll be going anywhere any time soon…knock on wood…

We have tile throughout our whole house. Both Gina and Kira were fine. My sister bought some leg warmer knee cover type things for Gina and she hated them! It was really annoying to try and put them on her everytime I put her down to crawl. They were both great without them!

You need to make sure there is nothing low for her to put in her mouth (cords etc) or pull on. Get on your knees and take a look around. Put lots of stuff high for a little while. We taught our kids hte boundaries and had consequences if they touched something they were not supposed to touch. We never purchased a gate, lock or any other “baby proofing” items. I would rather teach them what to do than just making it unaccessible.

    Good luck!
